The Mindful Awareness Practices
(MAPs) for Daily Living Program
Mindful awareness is a generic term used to describe exercises that enhance awareness to present experiences. There are many ways to bring mindfulness into one's life, such as meditation, yoga, art, or time in nature. Mindfulness can be trained systematically, and can be implemented in daily life, by people of any age, profession or background. Mindful Awareness Practices (MAPs) are the signature educational programs of the Mindful Awareness Research Center; they are ancient practices adapted for modern life. Currently, we our MAPs exercises focus on mindfulness meditation techniques to develop greater mind-body awareness. Science is demonstrating that you can learn to change your body and brain states using meditation techniques. Regular mindfulness practice can benefit you, your families, and your work life. In our MAPs classes, the latest meditation-related scientific research will also be presented by one of our MARC faculty.
We offer MAPs for Daily Living in several ways:
| Classes on developing or strengthening a practice. Some specialty classes for seniors, teens, mental health professionals. CEUs are available. |
| Daylong retreats on topics such as developing compassion; working with difficult emotions; anxiety; teens; communication |
| Workshops on topics such as cancer; neurobiology; education; pain management; ADHD; etc. CEUs are available for some workshops. |
